GILBERT & GAILLARD

Languedoc, France

The adventure of Château Gilbert&Gaillard was born from the meeting of two renowned globe-trotters, with an exceptional Languedoc terroir. Philippe Gaillard and François Gilbert are journalists, tasters and wine critics. Creators of the Gilbert & Gaillard international wine guide, they also edit a magazine in English broadcasted on the 5 continents. Their countless travels around the world have allowed them to understand viticulture under all its forms and at all latitudes : South Africa, California, Italy, Spain, Portugal...

With these 25 years of tasting experience acquired worldwide, François Gilbert and Philippe Gaillard chose to put their know-how at the service of an exceptional wine estate in Languedoc, Château Gilbert&Gaillard. Their vocation has been, for the last 25 years, to defend local wines on international markets. Terre Sauvage is one of their brands, dedicated to varietal wines. The brand reflects perfectly this will to bring the best fruit-forward and elegant fine wines to enthusiasts, at an exceptional quality/price ratio!

TERRE SAUVAGE – SAUVIGNON BLANC 2023

Appellation: VIN DE FRANCE

Grape Varieties: 100% Sauvignon blanc - Loire Valley

Terroir: very fine silica soils, allowing Sauvignon to express a very refined mineral character.

Alcohol: 13%

Winemaking: Low temperature fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, reductive environment to fully preserve the varietal aromatic potential.

Aging : 6 months in stainless steel tank, on fine lees with regular lees stirring.

Notes: Mediterranean citrus fruits, mature white flesh fruits, exotic, floral, salty. Fresh, balanced, beautiful aromatic intensity. The altitude and limestone soils provide precision and the necessary acidity to balance texture and aromatic.

A wine of pleasure which will accompany the start of a sunny evening, and will pair wonderfully with seafood, cheese, or a fresh summer aperitif. Serve at 8°C.

TERRE SAUVAGE – PINOT NOIR 2023

Appellation: PGI PAYS D’OC

Grape Variety: 100% Pinot noir

Terroir: Fine selection of Languedoc fruits, mainly on clay-limestone soils

Alcohol: 13.5%

Winemaking: Grapes are destemmed and pressed at night to retain their freshness and protect them from oxidation. Juice is fermented at low temperature in temp controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruit expression as well as the mineral character.

Aging: 6 months in stainless steel vats to preserve fresh and fruity aromas.

Notes: The solar and warm power of the 2023 vintage gave a typical Merditerranean aromatic to this high altitude Pinot Noir : fine nose of ripe raspberry, wild blackberry, iris and pepper, and notes of undergrowth. A gentle and fair extraction produced a delicate wine. Light ageing rounds out the palate and adds charm, making this a wine for pleasure.

A play on temperature can give multiple dimensions to the wine. The freshness makes it a nice pairing on an aperitif, and a rise of temperature will give it the consistency to accompany a summer meal.
